Original Paintings of Suilven

by Sandra Hugill

Suilven is one of the most distinctive peaks of Assynt. Rising steeply from the moorland, it can often appear higher than its actual height and its rocky profile contrasts with the moorland from which it rises. Formed during the last Ice Age, it was left exposed above the ice sheet. It now remains as an isolated outposts of highly eroded Torridonian sandstone sitting on a bedrock of much older Lewisian gneiss.
