Surrounded by mountains Buttermere is a lake in the Western English Lake District in North West England. The adjacent village of Buttermere takes its name from the lake. An interesting path takes you round the lake and my paintings are of views seen on that walk. In Spring the slopes of Haystacks a favourite of Wainright, which stands at the head of the lake are a mass of bluebells and the views down the valley from its summit reach to Crummockwater and Loweswater. An exciting ridge walk from Red Pike to High Crag flanks the west of the lake.
